TBE Yom HaAtzmaut 2026

On Sunday April 19th TBE held their first Yom Ha’Atzmaut Celebration. It was an amazing event. The morning opened with joyful singing from all our religious school students.  They did a fabulous job! The ladies of Glee also blessed us with their singing.

Students from Gan, 3 years-K, sang a wonderful rendition of the Shema taught by Morah Hannah. Tzedek students, grades 1st-4th, presented posters of the Kotel and the Dead Sea. These were collaborative projects and they also presented them in groups. Their Hebrew and davening work was displayed on tables.

Mitzvah, grades 5th-7th, presented a conversational Hebrew ‘skit’ prepared by Morah Bess.  They went on to deliver speeches on different topics from their Judaics studies taught by Morah Lilly. These ranged from Masada, Temple Mount, and the Yehuda Market.

The morning continued with a fabulous spread of food by Donna and KIVO. There were falafels, pitas, olives, pickles, hummus, halva and so many desserts. Thank you Donna and Melanie Fleischmann for helping make the day a success. While we were eating, Diane Penchansky played beautiful live music on the piano.

Activities included a Jewpardy table hosted by Morah Bess. Questions were asked and then upon a correct answer a prize wheel was spun. There was also bag decorating led by our Hebrew High student, Kezia Gagne. A mitzvah making station, consisted of creating cards for our congregants. This was led by Katherine Hicks-Currant.

There was a Kotel wall created by Rachael Leonard and Kezia Gagne that people could actually place prayers into ‘cracks’ in the rocks.

The day ended with the religious school singing more songs. And our finale was everyone joining in singing the beautiful spirit filled anthem, Hatikva. Thank you Cantor Chesler for leading all the singing.

The social hall was filled with smiles, laughter, conversations, wonderful food, and the unity of many generations to celebrate Israel and the accomplishments of our future generations.
